June 2, 2022 (Napa, Calif.) Katnip® Wines announces the release of its 2021 vintage of Katnip Rosé. This is the fourth vintage of the wine that vintner Katie Pratt first released in 2016. As the wine’s popularity grows, Pratt has increased production to 125 cases annually, starting with another harvest this fall followed by a spring 2023 bottling of the 2022 vintage.
Pratt’s extensive background in food, wine, and art, all of which are infused in Katnip® Wines, led her to start planning this passion project almost a decade ago. Recently featured in the summer issue of Napa Valley Life Magazine, Katnip® Wines is a direct reflection of the inspirational and entrepreneurial family members, friends, and colleagues who motivated her. Parents Pat and Herb Pratt, for instance, were close friends with Julia and Paul Child. Together they cooked, traveled, and shared many meals, and along the way Pratt naturally absorbed their knowledge, expertise, and zeal.
Katnip Rosé, a unique blend of Mourvèdre, Tempranillo, and Grenache grapes, is inspired by wines from the Bandol region of southern France. The hot dry Northern California climate similar to that in Provence yields grapes with intense aromatics and ripe harmonious flavor concentration.
“Katnip Rosé is a juicy, textured, and vibrant wine,” Pratt explains. “And it has some nice spiciness that makes it a perfect match for many cuisines.”
Pratt is grateful for the way things have evolved for Katnip® Wines. That’s just one reason the winery is a participating vintner in Jameson Humane’s annual fundraiser, Wineapawlooza, in June 2022.
